- Imagine...
- How each one of us can take an active part in the campaign
- How each of us can be led by God to become a part of this campaign
What was on your heart when you made this decision to be part of the Leadership Team?
My mother often said, to whom much has been given, much is expected. God has immensely blessed my life in many ways. One very significant way in which he has blessed me is the impact that CPC has had on my family and me in the six years since we moved to California. I believe that with such blessings comes the responsibility to use my gifts and talents to further God’s kingdom; the Imagine ministry is one of the ways I can do that.
What Bible verses have inspired you to make this decision?
I had been thinking about what it means to fully trust in the Lord. Proverbs 3:5 instructs us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” God helped me to realize that trusting in Him means taking a chance, and going places He calls you to that don’t feel safe. This ministry calls all of us to trust more in God. I was also influenced by Jesus’ words in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” By this, I believe Jesus was referring to the life He promises, the life only He can deliver, that is a life of communion and fellowship with God; what we were designed for. Imagine if we were to keep this life for ourselves! I don’t believe that’s an option for us as followers of Christ; we must provide for others to come to Jesus, for others to meet Christ. In order to do that, we at CPC need to provide for the facilities to allow that to happen.
How has your relationship with Jesus affected your life?
Jesus saved my life. I was headed down a path to relational isolation and selfish living and Jesus helped show me His plan for my reconciliation with God. He has helped me realize that He holds what it is that I truly desire, and that is a relationship with my maker, which is the model for relationships on Earth. I’ve heard it said that all have to answer the question, “What are you going to do with this Jesus?” Are you going to trust Him and believe in Him or are you not? It is a question that took me many years to finally answer, and it is the most important question we must answer. The Imagine ministry will result in more people in our valley having a chance to consider that essential question.
What excites you the most about the Capital Stewardship Ministry?
Watching the congregation provide for the facilities for all of the ministries of CPC, and watching the process energize all of the ministries of CPC is an extremely exciting prospect for me.
What makes CPC so special that it should undertake such a large project?
I don’t view it as a matter of CPC being “special”; I view it as CPC being a part of building God’s kingdom, starting in our own community, the San Ramon Valley.
