- Imagine...
- How each one of us can take an active part in the campaign
- How each of us can be led by God to become a part of this campaign
Why have you chosen to become involved in a significant way in this ministry?
The use of CPC’s physical facilities is among the highest of any church anywhere. For several years now there has been a dire need for at least an additional 20,000 square feet of meeting room, child care and youth ministry space. That need continues to grow and every day we wait to address it only increases the need and the cost. I firmly believe that now is the time to move forward with a master plan not only to serve our present needs, but to enable CPC to grow in the future.
What was on your heart when you made this decision to become a part of the Leadership Team?
At my age and status in life, I must admit that I was somewhat hesitant to be a part of the Leadership Team for this project. My earnest prayer was first that God reveal what His feelings are and secondly, whether or not He really wanted me to be involved at this level. My heart tells me that yes, it is God’s will on both counts, and that I can do nothing less than be involved at whatever level I am called.
What Bible verses have inspired you to make this decision?
Matthew 28: 19 and 20 contain Christ’s “Great Commission” to His followers. He directs us all “to go forth and make disciples, to baptize them and teach them and to extend His Kingdom”. CPC’s 4-fold purpose and directions fully support this calling and this Capital Stewardship Ministry will provide the resources needed to more fully help us accomplish this goal. In addition, Isaiah 6: 8 encourages me and all of us to respond positively when God calls. We can do no less.
How has your relationship with Jesus affected your life?
Belief in Jesus has filled my life with love, joy, hope, peace and a conviction of eternal life. Even in the midst of troubles and turmoil, my faith in Christ has meant everything to me and my family.
What excites you the most about the Capital Stewardship Ministry?
More than anything, the strong possibility of providing the youth of our valley (most of whom are un-churched by the way) with a state of the art facility which will attract them in by the hundreds. We have the staff and the programs, but are sadly lacking in terms of facility. The other elements of the project are important, but bringing youth in our valley to Christ is paramount to me!
