Vision for a Capital Stewardship Ministry
At CPC we are about People Meeting Christ. We are called by God to bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ and grow them in community, discipleship, and mission.
CPC's Purpose
We believe in the living Christ who sends us into the world empowered by His Holy Spirit to live as His disciples, to express God's saving love and to extend His kingdom by being a worshipping congregation, a healing community, an equipping center and a mission fellowship.
CPC's Direction
As long as there are lost and hurting people who need to know the love of God in Christ, we want to reach out to them in love. This challenges us to grow in many ways both within and beyond the present congregation. These areas of growth are inter-connected; they do not exist in isolation from each other. This growth flows from a spirit of mutuality and interdependence where all parts of the church work together in harmony. We are committed to grow in these directions:
- Grow the Kingdom of God
- Grow as Christ's Disciples
- Grow the Number of Disciples at CPC
- Grow the Unity and Love in Christian Community at CPC
- Grow CPC Facilities to Support CPC's Purpose
Background
CPC has been in the planning stages of expanding our facilities for almost 8 years. Working with the Town of Danville, we have adjusted our plans several times to meet the needs of our congregation, the larger Danville community and our neighbors. On March 11, 2008, the Planning Commission of the Town of Danville gave final approval of the proposed facility plan.
Current Situation
One of the constraints in achieving our Purpose is the present size and capacity of our facilities. The limited facilities for students and young adults do not attract and retain our youth. When both schools are in session, we lack facilities to provide child care for week day ministries. Our shortage of meeting rooms restrains the expansion of many of our church ministries and limits the number of community groups which can meet on our campus. Our expansion of worship venues to include Video Café has eliminated fellowship space in the multi-purpose room. Our limited parking discourages newcomers from visiting the worship services and special events and creates pressure on weekday activities particularly when school is in session. The present access to our campus forces traffic into the surrounding neighborhood and causes safety concerns entering and exiting the main entrance.
Imagine
"Imagine - serving people today, building for tomorrow" is our vision for the Capital Stewardship Ministry. Together we will adopt a new paradigm- to receive, use and care for all of God's resources. We will learn "to live graciously and to give generously." We seek to use God's resources to reach more people for Christ; to grow as His disciples; to grow in fellowship with Him and others in our church and community; and to grow our facilities.
Facilities Development Plan
In order to fulfill the purpose for our church, CPC leadership has prayerfully concluded that now is the time to move forward and develop the facilities our ministries require. The plan provides for expanded and improved ministry facilities which will enable our CPC family to better minister to our own members, the San Ramon Valley and future generations. The plan includes:- $500,000 for one local and two international Mission projects all of which will involve many CPC'ers and will impact many lives.
- New Ministry Center, a place where our students, children, youth and adults can come to faith, grow in that faith and be trained and equipped as future leaders. The center will provide:
- Youth activity center and student ministry offices.
- A new Great Room with a capacity for 300 students or adults.
- Nursery room, toddler room and week-day childcare rooms that will also be used for elementary Sunday School. Multi-use meeting rooms for children, youth and adults. Administration offices as the current Ministry Center will be removed to make room for a Fellowship Room and Pavilion.
- New Fellowship Room and Pavilion - a place where we can build community, where we can go for a cup of coffee and meet friends, build new relationships, hold meetings and learn about our ministries and church activities.
- A reconfigured vehicle entrance and parking lot that will improve safety and traffic flow into, around and out of the CPC Campus.
- New and reconfigured parking which will add 49 new spaces on week-ends and 59 spaces during school days.
- Relocation of the play area adjacent to the buildings to eliminate vehicle-pedestrian conflicts.
- Chapel restoration to provide a comfortable home for our special worship services as well as weddings and memorials.
- Sanctuary updating to provide a more effective worship environment.
- New Town of Danville Use Permit that will authorize an increase in the number of Academy students from 328 to 400.
The Cost
The cost is projected to be $15,000,000. This is a significant amount of money but is not beyond what a congregation of CPC's size, committed to spreading the Gospel of Christ in our community and beyond can expect to raise. After years of studying various options and committing our plans to prayer, CPC's leadership believes that this plan reflects our understanding of God's call to our church. We further believe that if we step out in faith, the Lord will bless our Capital Stewardship Ministry with the resources needed to complete this plan.
